From the Chief...
On behalf of the McCook Fire Department, I want to thank you for visiting our website and supporting our fire department. Our mission is simple but vital: safeguard life, and property, through proactive education, prevention, and rapid emergency response.
Every day, our firefighter/paramedics train and respond with professionalism, compassion, and excellence. Whether it's answering an emergency call, providing fire safety education, or supporting community events, we are proud to serve you.
We strongly believe that fire safety begins long before an emergency occurs. That's why we encourage you to explore the resources on our site- from fire prevention tips to emergency preparedness guides. By working together, we can make our community stronger and safer.
As Fire Chief, I am honored to lead such a dedicated team and to serve such a supportive community. Thank you for trusting us in your times of need and for partnering with us in building a safer tomorrow.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Improving our Future...
On Tuesday, February 18th., the Village Board approved a contract with MacQueen Group, to purchase a new fire engine, to be delivered in late 2027 or first quarter of 2028. This custom apparatus will serve as the department's front-line engine and rescue squad, replacing our 2001 Spartan Gladiator.
This new Pierce Enforcer PUC will bring the latest technology and apparatus safety standards to our Department. We look forward to working with Pierce in completing its design and configurations.

New Additions...
The Department aggressively pursues any/all grants to obtain the latest tools and technology that can assist our agency. Since 2001, the department has secured over $750,000 in State and Federal grants.
Below are just a few of the items we purchased with the fund received.

New Ambulance - 2026
The Village Board approved purchasing a new 2026 Ford 550 / Demers Ambulance on October 7, 2024, which will be completed in Quarter 3 of 2026. This will replace our spare 2007 ambulance. The new ambulance will "mirror" our current 2022 Ford/Demers.
Moving forward, expanding or maintaining two fully equipped ambulances helps to ensure better coverage, reduced response times, and the ability to handle multiple simultaneous emergencies more effectively. Given how vital EMS is in the overall emergency response system, this move reflects a recognition of the need for a robust pre-hospital care system in the community.
This could not be possible without the support of Mayor Carr and our Village Board!
