Advanced Life Support for Our Community
McCook Fire Department is proud of the level of Emergency Medical Services it provides to the Village of McCook and surrounding area. All Fire Department employees are cross-trained as firefighter/paramedics — bringing dual expertise to every emergency call we answer, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The department responds to over 800 emergency calls each year. Approximately 300 of those are emergency medical calls, each handled by highly trained paramedics with Advanced Life Support capability available on every response unit.

Paramedic Training & Readiness
The Village of McCook maintains a highly trained EMS staff, providing its paramedics with monthly training administered by Loyola Medical Center — the resource hospital for our region. This ongoing clinical education ensures that our personnel remain current with evolving medical protocols, equipment, and best practices in pre-hospital care.
Training is continuous and comprehensive, covering patient assessment, advanced airway management, cardiac care, trauma response, and pediatric emergencies. Our paramedics are held to the highest standards of clinical excellence — because in a medical emergency, preparation is everything.

Loyola Medical Center, located in Maywood, Illinois, is a Level I Trauma Center — the highest trauma designation available. As the resource hospital and medical oversight authority for our EMS system, Loyola sets the clinical standard that every McCook paramedic is trained to meet.
