Emergency Medical Services
McCook Fire Department is proud of the level of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) it provides. The Fire Department operates two Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances. Also, the Rescue Squad and Truck are equipped with complete Advanced Life Support medical equipment.
All of the Fire Department employees are cross trained as firefighter/paramedics. The department responds to over 800 emergency calls each year and approximately 400 of those are emergency medical calls. The Village maintains a highly trained staff, providing its paramedics with monthly training administered by Loyola Medical Center, the resource hospital for our region.
Loyola Medical Center, located in Maywood, is a Level I (one) Trauma Center, which is the highest level available. McCook is also very close to Advent Health (LaGrange) and MacNeal (Loyola Medicine.) Patients are transported to those hospitals quickly and efficiently.
McCook Fire Department's EMS Division is operated under the guidance of the Loyola Medical Center - Emergency Medical Services System and is licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
